GIIS is a leading school in Singapore offering our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The IBDP is a curriculum pursued after the completion of Grade 10, ‘O’ Levels or equivalent, and provides balanced exposure to academics, a better understanding of the world, and getting a great foundation for university life.
We are an authorized IB World School. Facilities in the Campus will make the IBDP an experience of high energy and deep learning, due to excellent exposure to infrastructure that leads to excellent breadth and depth of knowledge, and the skills to succeed physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is the most famous of all IB courses. Secondary school students between 16 to 19 years of age take up the IB Diploma Programme. It has six subject groups and the DP core, which includes the following:
This examines types, nature, and limitations of different ways of learning and different areas of knowledge.
This is an in-depth study of a limited topic within a subject which provides students the opportunity to conduct independent research in order to produce a successful essay.
This is an element which complements the academic disciplines of the IBDP curriculum, and meets the mission statement of GIIS to nurture all-round citizens for tomorrow through everything from service projects to physical training.
Here, students have the opportunity to reflect on the knowledge gained, conduct independent research, and undertake community service projects.
We have 14 world toppers in the last 13 years, and many more near toppers in the IDBP courses. The school has consistently recorded an average of 37 and above in IBDP scores which is a commendable achievement.
Our IB Diploma Programme graduates have gone on to secure placements at the world’s most prestigious universities, including the University of Oxford, New York University, National Institutes of Technology (India), National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, University of California at Berkeley, London School of Economics, and many other leading global institutions.
The Student Handbook is prepared as a guide for parents and students to be acquainted with the policies and procedures of the school, to be followed during the academic year.
An IB World School is a school which offers the International Baccalaureate or IB programmes to its students. The IB schools have to go through a rigorous authorisation process to qualify as an IB World School.
The IB provides a range of useful materials for candidate IB World Schools, including the IB resource library and a glossary of terms. These schools work within a global community, creating frequent opportunities for shared learning and collaboration with others.
The programme is designed to create inquisitive, knowledgeable and caring young minds.
Many national and state systems, as well as individual universities, have their own equivalencies for International Baccalaureate PYP and Diploma Programme performance.
These include the UK’s UCAS conversion, the Australian ATAR conversion, and India’s AIU conversion, among others.
The IB PYP curriculum is designed for Graders 1 to 5 (age 5 to 12 years). The IB MYP programme is equivalent to the secondary school – it is for students between 11- 16 years. The senior school programme, also known as the IB Diploma Programme, is for students between 16-19 years.
