We are an authorised Singapore IB school offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Singapore for the last 17 years, to Grade 11 and 12 students.
The IB Diploma programme encourages students to think critically, innovate and create, research, maintain an open, inclusive mind, use technology effectively and understand what it means to be a global citizen.
Secondary students at GIIS develop the above skills through the IB programme while being taught to value diversity, respect others’ opinions, have compassion for others and take responsibility to care for our planet. With the support and mentorship of our dedicated teachers, we help our students become future-ready.
*GIIS East Coast campus is now an authorized IB school for the IB Diploma Programme. Admissions open for August 2023.
The IBDP, popularly referred to as a pre-university qualification, encourages a breadth and depth of knowledge, and importantly, application of that knowledge to real world situations. The curriculum includes six subjects that students choose from six broad subject groups. They develop specialised knowledge and skills in topics that interest them the most. Three of these subjects are taken at a Higher level and three are taken at a Standard level.
The IBDP curriculum also includes the DP core - which comprises Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service).
The three core elements of the IBDP enable students to apply their acquired knowledge and skills to real-world scenarios and broaden their educational experience. It allows students to reflect on prior knowledge, dig deeper into their areas of interest, conduct their own research and engage in community service.
In this core DP component, students are encouraged to ask questions, engage in critical thinking, understand ambiguity, and manage uncertainty when dealing with questions that have multiple possible answers. Assessments in the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) include both internal and external components.
Through the Extended Essay (EE), students develop skills in conducting independent research, drawing conclusions, managing their time and communicating ideas. It provides an opportunity to students to go deep in an area of their interest. The culmination is a 4,000-word essay.
In the Creativity, Activity and Service component (CAS), students actively participate in collaborative projects to explore solutions to problems, adapt to new roles and embrace challenges. They typically take up service projects, develop a sense of community and responsibility towards the environment.
Besides offering the standard IBDP to secondary students, GIIS offers the Bilingual Diploma, which includes additional language requirements. Students can earn a Bilingual Diploma by completing two languages selected from Subject Group 1 (Studies in Language and Literature). A student must successfully complete one of the English options from Group 1 AND one of the French / Spanish options from Group 1 to obtain the Bilingual Diploma.
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is at the heart of the IB Diploma Singapore. Due to its holistic approach, CAS helps students to strengthen and extend their personal and interpersonal learning.
From creating awareness about mental health to taking up global issues to working for animal shelters, GIIS students develop an understanding of their responsibilities through such initiatives.

As we advance towards the end of 2023, we find ourselves in a transformative phase with Artificial Intelligence (AI) altering the landscape of work,
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), popular as a pre university curriculum, and spread over two years (IB Year 1 and 2) is the perfect springboard for students to commence university.
In this 21st century world where technology, environment, travel, trade connect us all, we are united as global citizens.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a pre-university programme for students aged 16-19. Students study six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level. In addition, students write an Extended Essay and follow a critical thinking course entitled Theory of Knowledge. Participation in creative activities, sport, and services is also required.
The IB was introduced in the late 1960s to cater to a growing number of mobile students so that they could understand differences and similarities on a global scale and become internationally minded.
The IB Diploma Programme develops the leaders needed by the future workplace - people who know how to collaborate and understand the value of teamwork, people with analytical capability, versatility, and international understanding. It is a broad curriculum with an emphasis on the development of skills fit for the 21st-century workplace and for employment in the careers of tomorrow which are yet to be defined
The IB is accepted by universities across the world and the IB Diploma provides the best preparation for university.
The programme is committed to fostering a set of values and attributes described as the IB Learner Profile. IB graduates are thinkers, inquirers, communicators, principled (acting with integrity and honesty), open-minded, caring (showing compassion and respect to others), while at the same time being risk-takers, reflective, and understanding the need for balance in their lives. IBDP is for motivated students who like to be challenged and have a love for learning.
